There appears to be rust around the screw on the top of my new Kitchen Aide blender's blade. Is this normal?

It probably is normal, for some twisted reason(economics) some companies use stainless steal parts for parts that contact food and then use a non stainless screw to secure the part. The blade is most likely stainless steel and the attaching screw may be too but the shaft it is attached to probably is not.
Sounds like someone used a improper screw.It should have been a stainless screw.
